Video: scenes from yesterdays clashes at Qalandiya checkpoint

This dramatic video documents protesters marching on Qalandiya checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli soldiers fire tear gas at the undeterred youthful crowd.

Approximately 250 protesters were injured during the demonstration, mainly from tear gas inhalation, but forty were seriously wounded from rubber-coated steel bullets fired by Israeli soldiers.

The Electronic Intifada reported earlier today:

The Qalandiya clashes, which went on into the evening, were marked by unrelenting waves of young men who would approach the checkpoint until they were pushed back by tear gas and rubber bullets. An atmosphere of defiance was marked by what appears to be a new unity of purpose.

Undercover Israeli military forces disguised as Palestinian civilians arrested protesters.
